ArtPrize: Being "Captived" on Controversy

Lately around the city of Grand Rapids, artist Gurmej Singh had his exhibit removed from The B.O.B.'s space from the elements of various controversial subjects, such as Octo-mom and Saddam Hussein.

It's also the first for an entry to be removed from this year, before Artprize even started. Greg Gilmore, curator of the space, said it was too much for Family-friendly forum with the artist refuting his ideals.

Various folks also had mixed reviews on decision and Singh's work. "Art is art. Art is something that creates conversation. Art is something that is thought provoking, art can be upsetting." said Singh himself.

The exhibit is still out of display from the owner's expense.

  1. I went to art prize yesterday and there was an artist there that was trying to convince people that they should let Singh come back. He was saying things like "Haven't you ever heard of the bible? People get hung in there too." It was prettttyyyy weird.

    1. Yeah, the people who supported Singh sees art has no boundaries, but some believe there's limits to what's art. It's a never ending debate.
